  • Raynes Park Rounders tournament

    On Tuesday 13th June Hillcross took part in the Raynes park cluster rounders tournament.

    The cluster consisted of 2 groups. Hillcross were in group 1 which consisted of Poplar A, Poplar B, St Matthews, Joseph Hood and Hollymount.

    The Hillcross team played exceptionally well on a scorching hot day in all 5 matches and worked well as a team. Unfortunately we only won one out of five matches which meant we came last in our group and was placed 11th overall.

    However all children enjoyed taking part and representing the school in a rounders tournament.

  • Girl's Cricket Tournament

    On Thursday 25th May 2017, MSSP held their annual girl's Kwik cricket competition at Old Rutlishians CC. Sixteen schools from across the borough entered. 

    Hillcross were placed in a group C which consisted of Pelham, Malmesbury and Joseph Hood.

    Our first game was against against Joseph Hood. The girls got of to a brilliant start and winning their first match by 255 runs to 213. 

    The second game of the afternoon was against Pelham. This was a very tight game. However, with some brilliant bowling skills, the girls managed to win their second game by scoring 242 runs to Pelham's 231.

    The last game of the group stages was againist Malmesbury: Hillcross batted first and scored 229 runs but Malmesbury hit a huge 248 runs and won the game.

    Based on their standing within their groups, the afternoon fixtures were organised so that teams finishing first played for 1st – 4th place overall, teams finishing second played for 5th – 8th place overall, teams finishing third played for 9th – 12th place overall, and the three teams that finished fourth would compete for 13th - 16th.

    As Hillcross finished second in group C, the girls were playing for 5th-8th place. 

    The first game of the afternoon was againist The Priory. The Priory batted first with some brilliant fielding and bowling from the Hillcross girls The Priory scored a total of 227 runs. It was then Hillcross turn to bat and they managed hitting a huge 256 runs.

    This then gave the girls an opportunity to finish in the top 5 where we then played Sacred Heart who defeated Liberty by 20 runs.

    One last performance of the day and Hillcross were victorious in the fifth place play off winning by 245 runs to 230.

  •       Swimming Gala

    The annual Merton School Sport Partnership Swimming Gala Heat 1 took place on Tuesday 16th May 2017 at Morden Park Pools. Twelve Merton primary schools took part in this Heat. As there is a popular demand MSSP Partnership are also running an additional two Heats on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 to accommodate all the Merton schools that wished to take part: a total of thirty one schools with take part across the three Heats.

    Swimmers from Year 4 / 5 / 6 took part in various events; backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and relay races. The atmosphere was incredible as all the schools cheered on their swimmers from the poolside. Well done to all the Hillcross swimmers that took part in the event. Schools will find out whether their pupils have qualified through to the finals once Heat 2 and 3 has been completed on Tuesday 23rd May 2017. The finals will be held during the evening on Friday 23rd June 2017 at Morden Park Pools.

  • Raynes Park Cluster Kwik Cricket Tournament

    On Tuesday 23rd May, Hillcross participated in the Raynes Park schools cluster Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket competition which was held at Old Rutlishians Cricket Club. After the tournament brief, all schools were split into two groups playing two mini-leagues. The top two teams at the end of the group stages would then go on to represent the Raynes Park Cluster at the Borough Finals on Friday the 9th May 2017.

    Hilcross was in Group 2 which consisted of St Matthews C of E, West Wimbledon, St John Fisher and Poplar. HIllcross played a total of 4 games in the group stage. From the 4 games we played we only lost one game which meant that we came 2nd in our group and qualified for the Borough finals.

    The top 4 teams from both groups then had to play to determine places 1st to 4th. As we came 2nd in our group we played Hatfield for 3rd and 4th place. One last outstanding performance from the boys team which resulted in us winning our game and came 3rd overhaul.

  • Year 3&4 Tennis Tournament

  •            Year 3/4 football festival

    On Tuesday the 2nd May 2017 the Year 3/4 Football Festival took place at Raynes Park High. There were  11 schools from the Raynes Park Cluster attended the event. Teams were split into two groups with each school playing the other teams in their group once.

    As this was a festival with there being was no overall winner, this allowed all players to play without fear and inhibition. This lead to some sublime individual and team goals being scored across all three of the pitches.

  •          Year 3&4 Challenge run

    The MSSP Year 3 & 4 Challenge Run took place at Joseph Hood Recreation Ground on Thursday 20 April 2017, and this year’s event was greeted with another fantastic turn out. 32 schools from across the Borough of Merton took part, with the majority of schools bringing both a year 3 and a year 4 team. This meant that over 200 children competed in each of the four races.

    Huge congratulations to all the children that took part in this event.
