On Thursday 25th May 2017, MSSP held their annual girl's Kwik cricket competition at Old Rutlishians CC. Sixteen schools from across the borough entered.
Hillcross were placed in a group C which consisted of Pelham, Malmesbury and Joseph Hood.
Our first game was against against Joseph Hood. The girls got of to a brilliant start and winning their first match by 255 runs to 213.
The second game of the afternoon was against Pelham. This was a very tight game. However, with some brilliant bowling skills, the girls managed to win their second game by scoring 242 runs to Pelham's 231.
The last game of the group stages was againist Malmesbury: Hillcross batted first and scored 229 runs but Malmesbury hit a huge 248 runs and won the game.
Based on their standing within their groups, the afternoon fixtures were organised so that teams finishing first played for 1st – 4th place overall, teams finishing second played for 5th – 8th place overall, teams finishing third played for 9th – 12th place overall, and the three teams that finished fourth would compete for 13th - 16th.
As Hillcross finished second in group C, the girls were playing for 5th-8th place.
The first game of the afternoon was againist The Priory. The Priory batted first with some brilliant fielding and bowling from the Hillcross girls The Priory scored a total of 227 runs. It was then Hillcross turn to bat and they managed hitting a huge 256 runs.
This then gave the girls an opportunity to finish in the top 5 where we then played Sacred Heart who defeated Liberty by 20 runs.
One last performance of the day and Hillcross were victorious in the fifth place play off winning by 245 runs to 230.
