Key Information

Water Bottles & Snacks
All children are encouraged to bring in a water bottle each day which should contain water only.  Children are allowed to bring in a piece of fresh fruit or vegetable (one only please) to enjoy at break time. Please ensure this is clearly named so that it can be easily identified in the snack box at break time.

PE Kit
PE kit must be in school everyday.  Please send you child in with their bag on Monday, which will be sent home on a Friday.  Should the children bring their kit home during the week, please ensure it is returned the following day.

Pencil Cases
In Year 6, all children write in a blue handwriting pen which will be provided by the school. However, in preparation for High School we strongly recommend that children are provided with and maintain their own small pencil case containing: a free-flow hand-writing pen (not biro) writing pencil, a small selection of colouring pencils , sharpener, a small ruler & a glue stick.

Start & End of the School Day
School opens at 8:35am and children should enter through the same door as Year 5 before 8.45am.  If arriving after this time, please enter via the office. Children will be dismissed at 3.10pm by the staff into the back playground.  For any parents considering allowing their children to walk home from school  unaccompanied permission for this must be granted by Mrs Francis .

Year Group Specific Information
During the Summer term, the children will have an opportunity to take part in a week's residential visit.  Keep an eye out on ParentMail for information about a meeting later on this term.

We will be holding our SATs information evening on Monday 18th September at 6.00pm in the Main Hall - come along and find out how you can help support and prepare your child for the tests in May.

Get Involved!

There are numerous opportunities for you to join in with the life of the school in the
following ways:

  • Accompanying School Trips;
  • Class Celebration (Autumn 2);

Safeguarding

Hillcross is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.  This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and supporting procedures in place.  All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.  Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are:

  • Lisa Francis – Headteacher
  • Graeme Page – Deputy Headteacher
  • Helen Beckett – Assistant Headteacher
  • Tanja Doig – Year 3/Assistant Headteacher
