Spring 2
Week 2
There is always something exciting happening for our wonderful children at Hillcross, and this week was especially memorable as we celebrated Careers Week. Our parent visitors were fantastic, and the children sat and watched in awe as they learned about a wide range of job roles that they might choose in the future. The children also became artists this week, learning about our focus artist, Bridget Riley. They even had the opportunity to draw Hiccup and dragons during an online webinar with Cressida Cowell, the author of How to Train Your Dragon!

Week 1
It has been a very exciting start to the new half term! As authors, we have been learning about the historical fiction story The Little Matchstick Girl, preparing to write our own versions of the tale. As mathematicians, we have been introduced to inverse operations and have been exploring the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Alongside this fantastic learning, the children also participated in a workshop about magical toys. We even managed to take our learning outside, where the children designed their dream maps of a future Morden.
The week ended with a very exciting visit from the Leader of Merton Council, who listened to all the wonderful ideas the children had for the future of Morden. We are hoping they agree that a dinosaur museum, an AI studio, a scientist laboratory, and a Popeyes
restaurant should feature in the new plans!
