Year Group 1
Welcome to Year 1
Autumn 1: A Change Over Time
Water Bottles & Snacks
Children must bring a water bottle to school because water fountains will not be available for children to use whilst safety measures are in place. Hillcross School water bottles are compulsory. Children should have a water bottle with a lid that matches their house colour. These should contain water only.
School water bottles will be available for purchase via Parentmail. A payment item has been set for all families if you need to purchase a bottle, please indicate the quantity you require and which house your child/ren are in.
The cost of a water bottle is £1.50 and each additional lid is 50p.
In Year 1, children are provided with a piece of fruit as part of the government school fruit and vegetable scheme. Please do not provide your child with any additional snacks.
Year 1 PE day is Wednesday. Children will need to wear their full PE Kit to school on these days and bring their school shoes (and a change of socks in case they get muddy) with them in a plastic carrier bag. This is so that if they get muddy they can change into their school shoes without walking mud throughout the school. Please be mindful of the weather and choose the most appropriate PE kit (tracksuit bottoms in winder and shorts in summer). Children will wear their PE kits home at the end of the day.
We are also asking all children to bring a pair of plimsolls or indoor trainers into school. These will be kept in school for the whole term, unless the shoes become too small and we will send them home earlier.
This will be set on Google classroom. However, when your children complete learning on paper which you will then upload on to Google Classroom, please encourage your child to follow our Presentation Policy and to ensure they use a neat cursive script.
Start & End of the School Day
Due to the safety measures in place as a result of COVID-19, procedures for the arrival and collection of children from school have been amended. Please refer to the recent ParentMails for information.
