Water Bottles & Snacks
All children are encouraged to bring in a water bottle each day which should contain water only. Children may drink from these throughout the day and they have the opportunity to refill them when necessary. In Year 1, children are provided with a piece of fruit as part of the government school fruit and vegetable scheme. Please do not provide your child with any additional snacks.
PE kit must be in school everyday. Please send you child in with their bag on Monday, which will be sent home on a Friday. Should the children bring their kit home during the week, please ensure it is returned the following day.
Start & End of the School Day
School opens at 8:35am and children should enter through the appropriate cloakroom/classroom door before 8.45am. If arriving after this time, please enter via the office. Children will be dismissed at 3.00pm by the staff from the same cloakroom/classroom door.
Year Group Specific Information
In the Summer Term the children will be completing the Year 1 phonics screening check. Children will have to phonetically decode 20 real words and 20 pseudo words. More information will be provided about the check at the end of Autumn term.

Hillcross is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and supporting procedures in place. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request.
