Summer 1
Week 4
This week has been about art. As artists, we have been practising our skills of using tone and shade to create the other halves of our faces. The children have been applying their previous knowledge of light and dark. They are building up to creating their final self-portraits using all the skills they have learnt this half-term.

Week 3
This week the children have had an exciting time making healthy wraps. As part of our English learning the children have been learning about the techniques and features of instructions. To give them a greater understanding, they had to accurately follow the steps to create their wraps. Then came the exciting part where they got to taste their own creations.

Week 2
As artists, we have been exploring tone to create light and dark through the medium of pencil. Within our English learning, we experienced tasting a variety of fruit. Then we used our senses to describe them. Later on, we used the adjectives that we came up with to describe them in our writing of the story of Handa's surprise.

Week 1
As geographers, we have identified Kenya as well as its capital city using globes and atlases. Within our maths lesson, we learnt how to subtract 2-digit number from a 2-digit number using a number line. We have sequenced the story of Handa's Surprise and retold the story using actions in preparation of writing our own story next week. As artists, we have learnt about the difference between portraits and self-portraits.
