Year Group 2

Welcome to Year 2

Autumn 1- London Landmarks

Water Bottles & Snacks

Children must bring a water bottle to school to ensure they keep hydrated throughout the day. Water bottles must be clear and in the colour that matches your child's house and should contain water only. School water bottles are available to purchase via Parentmail with a lid corresponding to your child's house. A payment item has been set for all families if you need to purchase a bottle, please indicate the quantity you require and which house your child/ren are in. We will review this payment item once a week. The cost of a water bottle is £1.75 and each additional lid is 75p.

In Year 2, children are provided with a piece of fruit as part of the government school fruit and vegetable scheme. Please do not provide your child with any additional snacks.

PE Kit

Children should bring a pair of plimsolls or indoor trainers into school in their PE bag. These will be kept in school for the whole term, unless the shoes become too small, and we will send them home earlier.

Team Cedar and Team Yew will both have PE every Wednesday & Friday.

Children will need to wear their full PE Kit including house colour t-shirt to school on these days and bring their school shoes (and a change of socks in case they get muddy) with them in a plastic carrier bag. This is so that if they get muddy they can change into their school shoes without walking mud throughout the school. Please be mindful of the weather and choose the most appropriate PE kit (tracksuit bottoms in winder and shorts in summer). Children will wear their PE kits home.

Start & End of the School Day

Due to the safety measures in place as a result of COVID-19, procedures for the arrival and collection of children from school have been amended. Please refer to the Parental Guidance on the COVID-19 page of the website which can be found on the Noticeboard drop down menu.

We value your feedback and comments, both positive and constructive, and so operate an open door policy.  Please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Should any concerns still remain, please email: info@hillcross.merton.sch.uk
