Spring 1
Week 4
We have been busy investigating the impact different forces have on different objects during this week's science lesson. We twisted, scrunched, bent, folded and squashed to see if our predictions were correct. As writers, we have begun to write diary entries from the perspective of an eyewitness to the Great Fire of London. We applied our past knowledge to highlight the features of diaries from example texts. We have recognised the relationship between the five and ten times table and continue to work on our recall of each.

Week 3
We have had lots of fun during our wider curriculum learning this week, especially using the apparatus during PE. As writers, we have learnt about writing and punctuating questions before writing our own which we will include in our FAQ text on the Great Fire of London. During this week's music lesson we used the charm bars to play and compose our own bell patterns using the notes of C, E and G. We used double bubble maps in History to compare London in 1666 to London today, identifying both the similarities and differences.

Week 2
We have been busy rehearsing our Year 2 performance this week and have been singing our hearts out! This week we learnt about acrostic poems and wrote our own based on the Great Fire of London. As historians, we considered the different causes of the fire and thought about the consequences these had on how quickly the fire spread. We used last week's science knowledge of materials and their properties to consider which materials would be most suitable for building a house. During our maths lessons, we have been learning the two times table and using our knowledge of multiples of two to solve problems.

Week 1
Welcome back! Year 2 have had a great week of learning to launch their 'Disaster Strikes' topic. As historians, we have travelled back in time to1666 to find out what London was really like. We have used our senses to describe what we could hear, see, feel and smell during the Great Fire of London and used these descriptions to write shape poems. Within our science lesson, we identified common materials and thought about their different uses. We were very excited to move onto multiplication in maths and have made the connection between repeated addition and multiplying.
