Autumn 1
Autumn 1 Week 4:
As historians, we visited the Tower of London this week. We had the opportunity to analyse primary and secondary sources as well as to ask questions. In gymnastics, we have been working collaboratively to perform a handstand. Continuing our journey into electricity, we explored complete circuits, the role a switch can play and, by applying our 'Variations Thinker's Key', tried different objects which could act as a switch. We have also continued to explore number relationships using concrete representations.
Autumn 1 Week 3:
As writers, we have been learning about the word class of different words and their role in different sentence structures. As physicists, we have been experimenting with electrical components, investigating what helps make a bulb light up. We have also been exploring different melodies using xylophones.
Autumn 1 Week 2:
Year 6 have settled well into the new academic year, applying our Habits of Mind within their learning. As mathematicians, we have been learning about the composition of larger numbers, reading and writing numbers up to ten million. We have also been using place value counters to represent a given number.
