Spring 2
Week 3
As scientists, we applied our learning about evolution, adaptation and natural selection when we took part in a workshop at the Natural History Museum. We also applied our understanding of how fossils are formed by creating our own 'mould and cast' fossils. As global citizens, we took part in a collective worship assembly which raised awareness of the challenges faced by people with a hearing disability in our community.

Week 2
This week, we celebrated National Careers Week! Members of our Hillcross community joined Year 6 to share what they do for a job. Our children listened with empathy and understanding and posed questions to all adults. There was a fantastic 'buzz' in the atmosphere throughout the week. As writers, we have been learning about Mary Anning, Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace. This week, we rehearsed and performed scripts about an event in their lives. This will help us when we write our biographies about them.

Week 1
This week, Year 6 took part in our annual public speaking competition- Speak Up. After taking part in oracy workshops, where they learnt about the public speaking triangle (DELIVERY, CONTENT and STRUCTURE), the children drafted and practised their own speeches before performing them to the Year group.
