8.35am- 8.45am. |
School begins. Children enter the unit independently, saying goodbye to parents/ carers in the playground. The children will organise their belongings, self-register and then choose an activity to complete. Staff will set up ‘Early morning’ targeted activities each morning, aimed at closing gaps. |

Wake Up! Shake Up! Session This is a physical development session which develops the children’s gross motor skills and has a positive impact on their ability to physically hold a pencil and form letters/graphemes. |

9.10am – 9.25am |
Whole Class Teaching and Learning Session Specific knowledge and skills are taught based on Communication & Language, Maths, Reading and Writing. Adults will also share details of the day’s adult-led activities and independent learning challenges. |

9.25am – 10.40am |
Adult-Led and Child-Initiated Learning across the unit (continuous provision) The children will interact and take part in adult-led and child-initiated learning experiences during this session. Learning challenges will be set up in each room for the children to complete across the day (a minimum of 5 challenges). The outdoor learning environment is also open whatever the weather, so please ensure your child brings a coat to school every day. |

Tidy Up Time – a valuable opportunity for children to learn and develop independence and care for their environment Whole class reading – A weekly focus book/ poem will be shared with the children each day, focusing on understanding the text and story sequence. |

11am- 11.20am |
Phonics session Completed in class groups in the Autumn term and moving into smaller phonics groups based on progress and attainment in the Spring and Summer term. |

11.20am – 11.30am |
Guided Reading session Every child will complete a focused guided reading session with the adult, which helps to develop key reading skills, each week. Children will have a set day and parents are informed of their child’s reading day in their communication book in September. |

Lunchtime and Outside play. |

12.30pm – 12.45pm |
Wake Up! Shake Up! Session The early years children and staff all participate in a second ‘Wake Up Shake Up!’ physical activity session to refocus the children at the end of lunchtime. |

12.45pm – 1pm |
Whole Class Teaching and Learning Session Based on the topic and linked to learning across the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Adults will remind children of the day’s adult-led activities and independent learning challenges and celebrate the learning that has already taken place that day. |

Adult-Led and Child-Initiated Learning across the unit (continuous provision) |

2.20pm-3pm |
Mastering Number, and Three a Day Story/Rhyme Mastery Number is aimed at strengthening the understanding of numbers and fluency with number facts and is completed daily in class groups. This is followed by the end of the day story/ rhyme, which is vital in developing early reading and Communication & Language skills. Children collect their belongings and are dismissed. |
