Autumn 1
Week 8
Let's Celebrate!
This week we launched our new topic - Let's Celebrate! Over the coming weeks we will be exploring different celebrations and talking about what we celebrate at home. During this week, as theologists, we were exploring the Hindu festival of Diwali. We made Diva Lamps with salt dough to remind us how the princess Sita followed lights to get home and made Rangoli patterns on the floor by the door!
Week 7
We ended our topic 'Happily Ever After' this week with the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Using notcing lenses, the children were able to identify different parts of the body and talk about the foods in Little Red's basket. They enjoyed using their cutting skills to select foods for their own baskets. On the theme of food, the children are showing lots of confidence at lunch time and when getting a snack in our cafe. Look at how much fun we have been having this week!

Week6
This week, our learning has been focused on the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. As storytellers, we have been using props to retell the story. The children used resources both inside and outside to create their own bridges and enjoyed testing how strong they were. As music makers, the children made their own instruments to recreate the sound of the Billy Goats walking across the bridge ... trip, trap, trip, trap!

Week 5
As communicators, the children have been learning to retell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Together we have changed our voices, making them higher and lower, whilst pretending to be Baby Bear or their parents. The children particularly liked using a deep, grumpy voice for Daddy Bear! Across the week, the children helped to build a new chair for Baby Bear, make porridge and sort items by size.
Week 4
This week the children have been speaking freely and using their voice to vote for their favourite rhyme to sing at the end of the day. This has been a great introduction to the British Value of Democracy. There has been one song that has been a clear favourite this week - 5 Little Ducks!

Weeks 1-3
Over the past few weeks, the children have been settling well into Nursery life and adapting to new routines. It has been an exciting time to discover new play and learning opportunities and to make new friends. Take a look at the fun that everyone has been having!
