Autumn 2

Week 5-7

Our final celebration this term is Christmas! As theologists, we have enjoyed learning about how Christians celebrate Advent and the birth of baby Jesus. We prepared and performed our Nativity play, decorated the Nursery and made cards and decorations.

Week 4

As historians, Nursery talked about their birthdays and those of family members. We looked back at when we were three years old and talked about how we celebrated. A new friend - Little Grey came to join us and we celebrated his birthday. In the afternoons, we learnt about weddings. To help us look at similarities and differences between birthdays and weddings, we baked cakes. We had so much fun!

Week 3

During Week 3, Nursery celebrated Nursery Rhyme Week! As musicians, the children applied a range of musical skills whilst singing songs from memory. They were able to use body percussion to play the beat to I Hear Thunder, include numbers in When I Was One and used actions for Two Little Dickie Birds. Firm favourites were playing musical instruments to Sing A Song Of Sixpence and changing the dynamics in our voices for Humpty Dumpty.

As mathematicians, the children worked on their skill of subitising and 1:1 counting. They practised these skills in lots of ways with lots of equipment. What a fun week we all had!

Week 2

As historians this week, the children looked back at the soldiers who fought in the war. Wearing our red hats, we thought about how they may have been feeling and linked this to Anti-bullying week and our own lives using the Zones of Regulation. As artists, we found different ways to make a poppy to help us remember the soldiers and this very important week of Remembrance.

Week 1

This week has been very loud, bright and spooky! As friends, the children spoke about the emotion of fear and what makes them feel scared. We linked this to two celebrations in the children's lives - Halloween and Guy Fawkes. The children were able to talk about some of the events that they had experienced at home whilst learning through their senses at Nursery. It has been an exciting week full of creepy crawlies, colours and glitter!
