Spring 1 2026
Week 6
During Week 6 the children used their tongues to taste! From pickles to cheese to learning the meaning behind Shrove Tuesday and eating pancakes we were all very 'Brave like Lions' by trying out new flavours and describing the taste!

Week 4
Children, Children, What Do You See? Our sense of sight was this week's theme which saw the children become readers and writers by orally reciting and making story maps of the popular children's story 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?'
We also used our sense of sight to engage in a wonderful opportunity of hosting Little City, the mobile role play experience. A wonderful time was had by both children and adults!

Week 3
Our sense of smell has been our focus for this week with the children continuing to engage in lots of sensory exploration. As scientists we have made our own perfumes in the water tray with fresh flowers, herbs and citrus fruits. Chocolate and vanilla scented play dough was a firm favourite across the week while the scent of fresh coffee beans was not so popular!

Week 2
This week has seen the launch of our brand new topic 'My Senses and Me'. At the beginning of the week, the children had the opportunity to explore all five senses through a range of play based experiences. Adding herbs to play dough, tasting fruit-infused water, mark making in cornflour, pouring rice on musical instruments and drawing blind folded. We will cover a different sense each week. This week our focus has been on touch, where we have looked at combining different materials to make our own play dough.

Week 1
The children have had a wonderful, yet chilly start to the Spring Term. Our Trailblazer topic this week has been focused on Winter and the children have explored this theme through stories, songs and hands-on experiences. As scientists, we have touched ice, selected appropriate clothing to wear in winter and wrapped up warm for a short walk in the snow. As well as this, we have welcomed our new intake of children who have all settled into their new environments beautifully!
