Autumn 2025
Autumn 2
Week 6
This week the unit has been filled with lots of festive cheer as we prepare for Christmas. We have decorated our class trees, engaged in non-fiction writing by making and writing cards for our families, written letters to Santa and baked gingerbread men. What an action packed, super exciting week!

Week 4
Week 4 saw our very first trip in Reception as we took a walk down to Morden Library. The children were wonderful ambassadors for our school, displaying many of our Hillcross values while out in public. They enjoyed listening to a range of exciting stories and exploring what our local area has to offer.

Week 2
As Members of the Community, this week we have shown respect and thanks to all of the service people past and present by focusing on Remembrance.
We have strengthened our physical skills by completing an assault course outside, joined materials to create our own poppies and read simple sentences all about remembrance.

Week 1
This week we have been Historians and have thought about the meaning behind Bonfire night. We have worn our Green Thinking Hats by using loose parts to create our very own colourful firework pictures.

Week 8
During week 8 the Reception children have been Theologists and have learnt lots of new White Hat facts about the Hindu festival Diwali. They have used a range of media and materials to create their very own Rangoli patterns.

Week 7
As Geographers, we have been thinking about maps and their uses. We worked collaboratively in groups to create our own 'messy maps' of the classroom while others took on the challenge of creating their very own maps.

Week 4
This week the Reception children have worn their 'Creative Thinking Hats' to explore AB and ABC patterns. We have used a range of resources from around the classroom to create patterns of our very own.
