Summer Term 1

Summer 1 Week 4

As writers, we have explored different features and techniques of a biography. We will be creating our own biographies on a chosen person. In maths, we have explored factors and multiples, square and prime numbers. To keep healthy, in our PE sessions, we have been looking at tennis, focusing on forehand and backhand. To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, we dressed in green and discussed different ways we can support not only our physical health, but also our mental health.

Summer 1 Week 3

Inspired by Katherine Rundell's 'The Explorer', we have planned and written our own adventure story, using a range of cohesive devices. Using the scientific enquiry of 'Observing Overtime', we have investigated different materials that dissolve in water to form a solution.

Summer 1 Week 2

As mathematicians, we have explored the concept of volume and used our knowledge of multiplication to find the volume of 3D-shapes. In English, we have used Katherine Rundell's 'The Explorer' as a stimulus for our own writing of an adventure story. In Science, we have investigated different properties of materials and presented our findings in a dichotomous key.

Summer 1 Week 1

To launch our topic, 'Marvellous Maya', we had an exciting, immersive workshop where we learnt about the life of the Maya. Throughout the day, we played a game of sacrifice, played a version of 'Pok-a-Tok' and explored different artefacts, including weapons.
