Summer 1- Bug's Life!
Summer 1- Week 1: Introduction of minibeasts
This week, we launched our new topic all about minibeasts; 'Bug's life'. As scientists, we used our noticing lens on our minibeast hunt we carried out as our topic launch. For this, we went to the allotment area of our school grounds and searched high and low for different minibeasts. We found an array of minibeasts, and as writers, used our ability to segment and blend to write the names of the minibeasts we had found. As theologists, we explored our special places. As philosophers, we explored the book 'Hey Little Ant' and used our caring and critical thinking to discuss whether we should squash the ant in the book if we were the main character. To link to our topic of minibeasts, we carried out our P4C session in the woodland lodge and had a great time sharing our thoughts and ideas as a whole year group! We had a brilliant first week and are very excited to continue our minibeast learning!
Week 2- Slither Week:
This week our learning was all about the minibeasts that slither including: worms, snails and slugs. As readers, we had a great time reading some non-fiction books about minibeasts, using our brilliant segmenting and blending to do this! As athletes, we began our sports day practise demonstrating our brilliant balance and coordination skills. As communicators, we developed our listening skills when we were visited by the Perform workshop, who performed their interactive show 'Rumble in the Jungle'. They took us on a journey into the jungle, where we encountered a variety of minibeasts. We listened and followed instructions which helped the journey unfold!
